Axiom Cycling Gear has been designing products since 1998 with a focus on durable, sustainable and innovative solutions to real world cycling challenges.
Axiom accomplishes this through maximizing versatility and fit, prioritizing the use of recycled materials and maintaining premium quality products while minimizing environmental impacts.
In 2017, Axiom released its line of Oceanweave cycling bags – the world’s first to be made from reclaimed fishing nets. Lost and abandoned fishing nets are a major threat to the ocean’s ecosystem and actually make up to 10% of ocean debris. Oceanweave fabric is made from a polyester yarn that is developed from these discarded fishing nets. This fabric retains the same durability and performance as new material, while at the same time is cleaning up our oceans.
Fatbike Republic reached out to the folks at Axiom who sent along three products manufactured from Oceanweave: Monsoon 32+ Panniers, Seymour Framepack P3.5 and Seymour Podpack P2.0 .
Monsoon 32+ Pannier
The Monsoon series of panniers is a built for the modern, gritty, all-weather cyclist who values their bike as an efficient, sustainable solution to their transportation needs. Waterproof, durable, uncomplicated and lightweight, these are the perfect bags for those that like to keep things simple and dry.
The Monsoon 32+ is manufactured from the Oceanweave 600D fabric with a waterproof polyurethane coating, coupled with an additional waterproof Hyracore liner.
At 1320g (2.91 lbs) per pair and sporting Rixen & Kaul bits (Vario spring loaded locks, Slide-Lock and Flip-Lock) the Monsoon 32+ panniers provide a claimed 31.6L (1928 cu/in) of on board storage.
Seymour Framepack P3.5
The Seymour Frampack slips inside your bike’s triangle and is available in three sizes. They are low profile and are claimed not to swing or adversely impact your bike’s handling.
Manufactured from waterproof Oceanweave 600D, the dual zippers provide access to the two soft-lined pockets. The main compartment is on the left with the right side sporting a built in convenience pocket that incorporates a quick access key ring.
At 170g (0.37 lbs) with dimensions of 46x11x6cm (18.1x4.3x2.4”) the Framepack P3.5 offers 3.5L (214 cu/in) of quick access storage.
Seymour Podpack P2.0
The Seymour Podpack P2.0 is the largest of the Podpack family. It is a stable and lightweight bag that sits on your top tube, providing quick and easy access to essentials like snacks, sunglasses, phone and keys.
Just like it's Monsoon and Framepack cousins, the Podpack is also manufactured from Oceanweave polyester with water resistant construction. Tough polypropylene stiffeners also help to maintain the bag’s shape.
Weighing in at a light 124g (0.27 lbs) with dimension of 25x12x7cm (9.8x 4.7x2.8”) the Podpack P2.0 provides 2L (122 cu/in) of up front storage.
